Elastomer sheets

Elastomer sheets are used only in low pressure applications. The elastomers will extrude during sealing because of the material’s incompressibility and low level of friction. Elastomer gaskets come under the form of a typical gasket with flange for applications that use water and oil at low pressures of up to 10 bar.

  • Fluids: High variety of fluids, depending on the elastomer
  • Temperature: -40 up to 200°C, depending on the elastomer
  • Pressure: 10 bar

Applications of the main elastomers

EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Rubber) – elastomer with good resistance to ozone, steam, strong acids and alkali, but low resistant against oils and fuels.

VITON – elastomer with excellent resistance to acids, aliphatic hydrocarbon, oils and other corrosive environments. Not suitable for amines, esters, ketones and steam.

NR – Natural rubber – has very good elastic recovery properties and good resistance to organic salt, acids and medium alkaline. Not suitable for oil and solvents, or wherever there is an exposure to ozone, oxygen or sunlight.

CR – neoprene, chloroprene – elastomer with high resistance to oil, ozone, highly recommended for medium salt solutions, alkali, acids, petrol, oil and gas. Not recommended for strong acids or hydrocarbon.
